Revamping my charity watch

Revamping an old watch

I'm at it again!  I see these great ideas in books and simply must try them!  Today's blog is how I changed my £3 charity watch to a lovely black and white polka dot strap to match my dress should I ever fit it that again!!

How to update an old watch

I want to write Fail here but it's not - it almost was!

The book suggests you use a watch that you can take the pins out of to get the strap off.  Replace the pins then thread through your fabric to give a new lease of life to your watch.

What I did was to cut the straps.  This involves a little bit of swearing as the straps were a bit harder to cut than I first thought!

Then I used way too much fabric and tried to ram thread this through the pins... after getting it stuck leaving the watch and stropping off to make a cup of tea, I came back and cut the fabric to a more realistic thickness for the watch and again threaded the fabric through.

Giving a watch a revamp
Once complete I was rather impressed with myself!  My biggest issue when getting my outfit together for vintage Goodwood a couple of years ago was the watch - now there is no stopping me.

  2. That looks lovely, and I bet it's more comfortable than wearing a strap or bracelet watch too. I'll never throw a watch face away again! #PoCoLo
