In September, we took you on your first holiday aboard. Thanks to mummy's quiz skills on Heart FM I won us a holiday to Chicago!
We traveled from 7am until 1am the next day in total so you are forgiven for being a bit (a lot) cranky at baggage check-in, at passport control and at immigration when we reached America - in fact, we were fast tracked there !!
We finally reached the hotel at 1am UK time. Chicago is 6 hours behind us, so it was only 7pm there and with that, we went to bed! (you and I did, I'm sure daddy is a machine and can function on zero sleep!!).
Whilst in Chicago we visited 2 Children Museums which you absolutely loved! I must admit, I had fun at these too and have no idea why they aren't so popular over here. My favourite I think was the one out of town, it was larger, more to do and had an outside area to it.
We visited Chicago Zoo where daddy fell in love with the Polar Bear and the weather was so beautiful that day we had to stop in the souvenir shop to get some sun cream!
Nothing opens until 10am so the following day we strolled down the main street of Chicago taking in the fantastic sites. We went to the top of the John Hancock building and looked out over Chicago and you didn't bat an eyelid at looking out 94 floors up!! But best of all, we found the beginning of Route 66. 4 years earlier mummy and daddy traveled that road but stop short of Chicago, this month - we found the end.
One day I hope to take you on Route 66 and stop by our good friend Jens on the way. Of all the states we've visited so far Chicago was by far my favourite and not least of all because we saw it with you.
You were so good on the journey home and throughout the holiday it really was a time I'll treasure for years to come and with that, I hope the pictures below reflect on what a great time we had.
Lots of love
