Creating an #Avengers Theme Toy Box

I'm not entirely sure if Max is into Avengers - but he loves Hulk, knows of Capital America, Thor and Iron Man so hey - that's good enough for me........That and his parents are Marvel geeks (OK, I am).  So after taking a year on creating Max's first Marvel toy box, I set about doing it all over again!

It's only taken me so long due to work, other craft projects, being a mum etc, the task itself isn't more than a few day's work, maybe a week.  Also, the chalkboard spray paint was an absolute 'mare this time around!  I have no idea why, but both cans spat at me, flicked paint off the nozzle and leaked over my fingers, so I did lose my motivation during the painting stage.

As with the first Toy Box, having a very plain toy box is just ideal for decorating and armed with my rebellious cans I sprayed the inner panels black.

Once I was finally happy with the panels I then set about the long task of going through the Marvel magazines and I dedicated each side to one of the Avengers team that Max knows - and that took some time!  This stage is not a 5-minute job and because I like to choose just the right image it is this stage that takes me the longest.

That's the base done.

With the lid, I chose to cover with foam again but not as thick as the first box.  I purchased this foam from eBay.  It's the perfect size for my box and I glue it to the lid before covering with material just to make sure it doesn't move.

Slight overhang each side makes no difference on the final result
The final stage is my favourite!  My staple gun has fast become my favourite tool in the house and the corners no longer concern me and I even made sure the underneath was tidy this time! - go me!!

With the lid completed the toy box got the Max seal of approval and to date is my favourite piece I've decorated.

    1. Thank you Rebecca, I do sometimes wonder if there is too much Marvel and he'll end up rebelling and going over to DC.... but then, you can never have too much Marvel ;)
