Penguin Bananas - #Nailedit !

For anyone who is familiar with the 'Nailed It' images, then you will know exactly how this blog is going to go.  If not - then do have a look at Smosh.Com's Nailed it pictures!

The lovely Rebecca over at The Beesley Buzz wrote a post regarding Kids in the Kitchen and her favourite photo and activity of the week were the Frozen Banana Penguins.

The picture on the left is courtesy of Rebecca and shows how fab her Banana Penguins turned out.

I have seen the Banana Penguins on Pinterest before and have admired them - FROM AFAR!

Then for some unknown reason to me, I thought it would be fun to try these!  Why? For the love of God why would I think this was a good idea?  The kitchen is not my friend, I love it but it just does not love me in return!

I struggle with the cupcakes - I shit you not, I can't even bake them properly - I try and blame a 2-year-old but let's face it the ones he makes at the nursery are superb!

So, where was I? oh yes -melting chocolate.

This is by no means a tutorial blog on how to make these if anything - its how NOT to do it!

The best part was smashing up the Easter eggs (we had a few Avengers left over from Easter).

Good news they melt lovely in the microwave.  Can't tell you how long for as I was too busy cutting the bananas wrong (with daddy I might add, I can't take all the credit for that cock up).

Now the idea is to somehow dip, roll or something (can you tell I never read Reading Confetti's blog properly!) in melted chocolate - this is messy but finger licking good fun.  In fact, we spent a bit too much time with our fingers in the melted chocolate as it was quite clear very early on these bananas were going downhill fast!

Then somehow you're meant to add eyes and feet - Lord knows how.  After managing to get at least 1 of the 'nanas standing upright the eyes just dripped down ... to the feet!

Anyway, I very very nearly didn't write this blog - but here is my 'nailed it' image

Enjoy

We did :)

Letters from my Son - Weeing!

Dear Mummum,

You really do not need to keep asking me if I need a wee anymore.  I know if I have my pants on I am to find the potty or toilet.

I will always announce when I need a poo too - I know you are very impressed with this when I tell you in the dark as you make lots of different interesting noises to show me you are happy and then entertain me with silly acts like pretending to fall over and hopping.  I think this is my best time of needing a poo.

I was speaking with my friend Beenie and she goes to wee and poo in the garden.  I notice she does not have pants on so it seems right that if I am also with no pants on in the garden I can wee wherever I am.  Why then you felt the need to pull me out the sand pit mid flow I don't know.

You emptied my sand out which I was sad about for the longest of times before you said I could finish going to wee in the grass - how wonderful.  I will do this more often when I have no pants on in the garden.

I have come to think that no pants means wee anywhere and yet you pulled me out the bath when I sat and said poo poo.  You are a very confusing mummum and have much to learn about the no pants rule.  Beenie is much older and wears no pants - I look forward to that day too.

Keeping Children Active

Activity Toys Direct are running a competition for bloggers to find out what we do to keep our little ones active over the summer holidays.

Well for us, we have weekends to keep Max active as he's too little to be in school (and mummy is soo not ready to be thinking about schools.....) So, what do we do to keep him active at the weekends?  Well we are very lucky to live near the seaside.

Whenever the is a hint of nice weather we are down the beach at some point during the day at some point during the weekend.  We have even been known to go down as late as 5 in the afternoon for an hour.

Armed with a bucket we roam the beach for shells.  We go down to the water's edge and practice our throwing with stones and then chase the waves if we have our shoes on or jump them if we don't.

When we get home we put all our shells in a pot and last weekend we got the craft kit out and made our own beach scene.

This is is one of many ways we keep him active and if I'm honest - it's probably my favourite.

Quirky Unique Jewellery

I've had a bit of a fab jewellery week this week!!

There is this wonderful up-and-coming new company called Cherry Diva which is selling cute quirky jewellery at fantastic prices!  I bought myself the mint pastel jelly watch for the bargain price of £6!!! I love it.  So much so that I'm considering getting the white too so I can chop and change depending on my mood!

It's a great service too.  Notification updates so you know where your order is and I got my watch the next day!  I strongly recommend this little site and not just because it's cheap, it's quirky or the fact it has Batman swimsuits... but also because it's a British new company that deserves our support.  (Did you notice I said, Batman.......)

Fathers Day Craft with Bostik

Making Dinosaurs and a Father's Day card thanks to Bostik and Tots100

We recently received our lovely craft goodies thanks to Tots100 and Bostik.  With Father's Day just around the corner, I set about...having a think!  This is harder than it sounds.  Obviously, we would make daddy some form of Father's Day card but what theme?

Letters from my son

Dear Mummum,

You were not my favourite of people yesterday.

When we came out of Lindsey's fun house which sometimes you call nursery, I found the bestest ever 'green banana'.  I showed you this 'green banana' on the floor and you seemed to repeat yourself 'leave leave'.  Why I would leave my newest bestest find?  I don't know, so I didn't!

You made some strange cool sound with your mouth and told me to hold my leave very tightly whilst we crossed the road - so obviously I had to drop my coat in order to make sure my 'green banana' did not fall.  You made that cool noise again.

Once in the car you opened my window until it was stuck.  I much prefer daddy's windows they never get stuck and go all the way down.  You told me not to put my leave out the window in case it would fall - so I held on to my 'green banana' for the longest of times.  Why you call it 'leave' I do not know as it is quite positively the shape of my banana's loose bits that fold over my hand - and green!

After a very very very long time I thought it would be nice to let my 'green banana' see outside the car and somehow you managed to allow my 'green banana' to fall and you wouldn't get it.  You said words like 'driving and no stopping'.  I don't understand why you didn't like my green banana because of driving?

I was so sad I had lost my best favourite toy ever!  I cried and cried and still you wouldn't get my toy.  I even screamed and showed you my tears but still you wouldn't get my toy!

I took my shoe off and tried to throw it after my 'green banana' but due to the silly window being stuck I couldn't do this!  I tried also with my sock but that went somewhere behind my head!

Oh then I saw a cow.......
