Funky Table Lights with Lighting Majestic

Lighting Majestic Bouquet Table Lamp Lilies

I was recently contacted by Lighting Majestics to see if I would like to review one of their products for our funky new home.  After having a good look around their website I fell in love with quite a few pieces, so I ended up putting together a Pinterest board of my favourite items which you can see here.

Home Improvements - Bathroom Window

We have recently moved house and one of the first things I noticed when we moved was the lack of privacy in our bathroom.  Now I'm not talking about my son coming in to clean his teeth whilst I'm having a wee or my partner coming in to use the loo whilst I'm in the bath or the dog coming in to just stare at me ......

Oh no, our bathroom has plain glass windows!  This is something new to me as I'm used to having frosted windows in the bathroom and whilst I'm quite happy to strut around half (or sometimes completely) naked - I really don't think it's a good idea to be doing this in a room that overlooks the school football field...

After a lot of searching on Google, I've found 2 frosted vinyl pieces that I love.  The first one I'm going to attempt on our conservatory windows so I'll leave that one as a surprise for now but the 2nd favourite was this item:

Searching eBay for Frosted glass covering
To be able to pull this off (quite literally) I needed 3 hands so my advice would be to have someone help with this!

I measured the glass and cut the vinyl accordingly allowing for a little slack.

I then must have spent the next 10 minutes trying to pull back the plastic without it curling back on itself, flicking back to the vinyl or just trying to pick up any stray hair, dirt and dust it could find!!  After a fair bit of cursing at it, I managed to pull back enough to get the top lined up nicely - complete with air bubble!  Then to my delight (NOT) as I pull the vinyl from the window it tried to rip.

After a bit more swearing and very slow movements, I managed to get the piece on the glass without too much problem.   I ran my craft knife around the edges to tidy up the sides and think all in all it came out OK.

Finally, have a bit of privacy in the bathroom
So what do you think?  I don't think it looks too bad, to be honest, and at the end of the day - I can now strut my stuff in the bathroom without the worry of anyone seeing me - other than the poor souls who live with me.

Moving House - Part 2

Moving House
Moving House
On the run up to moving I'd written a post on how I introduced the move to my son with getting him involved in packing, showing him the new house and regularly talking to him about moving which you can read here.

Well, it worked.

Both the dog and the boy settled in almost immediately.

As soon as her bed, my bed and the sofa were in the house my dog was home.  She also made herself a bed in the garden........

Nothing like a cardboard box to sunbathe in
As for Max, well he had a whole house to run around in, stairs and a new kitchen diner to amuse him.  He continued to go to nursery whilst I had a week off to unpack and each day he'd come home to a few more boxes unpacked in his room and more of his toys in a new drawer to find and play with.

The house itself was very very bare - even the curtain rails had been taken so we have a lot of work cut out for us, but also a lot of blogs to follow - one of which may just involve how we fixed the new curtain rail with Lego.............

So my advice if you're moving - let the kids help, let them pack a few boxes themselves and help unpack the other end.

I love this video, among the chaos of moving we still had fun.

Enjoy

Moving house with a Preschooler - Part 1

Moving house with a 3 year old!
Moving house with a 3-year-old!
I don’t know how Max is going to react to us moving this month.  He loves his routine and his Spider-man bedroom!  So to try and prepare him for the move we have shown him our new home.

We now have a house filled with boxes and because of this, I have been getting Max involved.  He has his own boxes to pack.  We have been getting smaller boxes for Max to pack away his hot wheels in, medium boxes to pack away books  - which didn't quite go according to plan as for every 1 book we packed he wanted to keep out 5!  They are still out at the moment, and I don’t know whether to try again or just to pack them when he’s not around.

Finally, we have some large boxes for the teddies – and as with the books, hardly any teddies get packed away, apparently, they all need to be on the bed (they used to live on the wardrobe…..).  I've been sneaking a teddy out here and there using them as padding in other boxes.

So far so good, but we have only just touched the surfaced.

Moving House and living with boxes
I plan to show the house to Max again now we know for definite we have it, and to discuss with him what will go where in his new Spider-man room.  I've been pinning ideas away on Pinterest so may show him those too….. maybe….the boy can shop like his mamma so maybe not…..

I had planned to put Max in nursery the day of the actual move... but we're moving on a Saturday now, and as much as I want him involved, I don’t think I can cope with keeping an eye on him, moving, the dog and any last minute mishaps, so we're going to go round grandma's house ;-)

So for a little boy who loves his routine, this can be one big upheaval for him or he’ll take it all in his stride and show me once more I worry over nothing.

Right, I'm off to go find some blogs on ‘moving with toddlers’.

Wish me luck….

Well, that's the boy packed.

QwerkiBox Mystery Box Unboxing - March 2015
Qwerkibox has been oh so naughty and tempted me back to their qwerkiboxes with a brand new Deluxe option!  The new size box offers a POP, at least 5 other items and a 100% branded T-Shirt for the cost of £26 (which currently makes this the most expensive of the boxes ordered to date)!
