It's the small things that count

But daaaaaddddddyyyyy
This past month has been quite a testing time with Max.  At three and a half he is testing his boundaries, his independence and my patience!

It all became quite noticeable when I took him to dance class a few weeks back and he had a 30 minute meltdown at the end of the lesson because the teacher had given him a black sticker and he wanted a blue one!  What probably shocked me the most, is up until that he day he’d kept those sort of meltdowns for home!

Way before the ‘sticker’ incident, we have had stand offs when it comes to getting ready for bed, usually starting with the cleaning of teeth.  It may be because he associates PJs and teeth with going to bed and he’s not ready yet?….but he’s been playing up a bit more than normal in the shops too.

The other day we went shopping  and he wanted to go down a different aisle to me and this brought on another meltdown and yes, in Boots, Tesco and Sainsburys he’s become ‘that’ kid – having a meltdown on the shop floor.

Now don’t get me wrong, my boy is usually a lovely funny boy and will usually help out and do as he’s told, but just lately, I do feel he’s testing both his parents to almost breaking point and then we receive this..............

It's the little things
One of Max’s nursery school teachers is leaving next week and she gave us a card to let us know she was leaving and that she’s enjoyed some lovely memories with Max, and that he is a credit to us.  Of course this made me cry.

No matter how much he’s testing us at home, finding where he fits in and what he can and can not do, something is working, my boy is a caring, bright and funny lad.

It’s the little things that count.

Making memories

  1. Sometimes you just need someone to tell you that you are doing a good job to lift you up and I'm glad someone did that for you!
