We waited a long time to see Croods 2 and I think it's fair to say, just like the new age, it did not disappoint

New to Sky Christmas 2021 is The Last Train to Christmas. I thoroughly enjoyed this film and knowing Martin Sheen travels in time as he moves between carriages, I made a conscious effort to pay attention!
I invested my entire evening in this film and while I did enjoy it, it left me with a lot of questions and you just know THAT ending was on purpose!!
2020 has been a strange year so far, hasn't it! With the COVID-19 lockdown closing the cinemas, film studios have released movies directly to their websites to watch or rent early on Sky, Amazon etc when the film would have usually been released to Cinema.
As they did with films such as Artemis Fowl which went straight to Disney+.
My top 5 family films I've enjoyed this year so far are as follows

I think I'm finally coming to terms with Avengers - Infinity Wars now! We watched this movie the only way that this one could be watched for us - at the iMax in 3D. MASSIVE screen, 3D and sounds to make you feel like Iron Man is whispering in your ear! Only to have your heart ripped out at the end... *should that be a spoiler alert?*
One of the biggest movie releases in March 2018 was Peter Rabbit. I know what you're thinking, but I'm not writing about Marvel or Star Wars, I'm writing about a cheeky little rabbit created out of the mind of the talented Beatrix Potter, coming to life through live-action/computer-animated and hitting the big screens!
My son asked as soon as the trailers started to appear if we could go and see this film. He loves Peter Rabbit and watches the series on BBC catchup all the time. The fact that this was the first film he'd asked to go see, rather than me surprising him with what I think he wants to go see...., of course we went as soon as possible.
He very much enjoyed it, slightly confused at the start as the characters are different to the TV Series, with no Lily, the fox and badger not out to eat Peter and the addition to Bea, the lovely, caring lady who lives in the cottage next to Mr McGregor [yes, it took me until the end of the film to realise that was Beatrix Potter, not something I admit to others...].
As I said, my son enjoyed the film, sat in his seat the whole time, laughed out loud and had discussions with me over various characters. His dad enjoyed it too, with laughter along with the rest of the audience at the very slapstick humour with the humans falling over themselves.
Those who I've spoken to have enjoyed the film and thought it was great, I think it really appeals to Beatrix Potter lovers, and with the adult humour in the film, appealing to adults as well as children. A big hit with many who have gone to see it.
I don't enjoy it much, I'm not one for slap-stick so some of the film I wasn't impressed with, but that's just not my sense of humour. I'm not sure I like how the rabbits were betrayed or the fact the storyline concentrates on Peter's love/care for Bea and the introduction of her love for Mr McGregor.
I appear to be in the minority with my views, but that's fine, we are all different, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
I hadn't read the book or seen the 1938 Disney short film version of Ferdinand the Bull, and somehow managed to miss every trailer to the new movie, needless to say, I had no idea what we were going to see over the Christmas period.
My son is not one for sitting and watching a whole movie just on a whim. He does have a few movies that he'll sit through such as Toy Story, Despicable Me and most recently the Star Wars movies but normally he'll watch around 20 minutes and then start with his Lego, or cars etc.
We have been given the opportunity to review the new film Monster Island by Kaleidoscope Home Entertainment rated PG, and after watching the trailer and reading the synopsis I figured this was going to go one of two ways.....
Last year I wrote a post on how I was going to decide on what new movies to watch in 2016. I chose to watch the movies which had been nominated for an Oscar for Best Movie and Best Actor & Actress category. 12 months on and I've only watched 4 out of the 14 films I listed!!!

Se7en
Now 21 years old, this film first appealed to me due to the cast, with Brad Pitts slightly crazy character, the evil of Kevin Spacey and the brilliant Morgan Freeman wrapped up in a Mystery Crime Drama. I was hooked from the beginning and to this day when I write up subscription/mystery box posts I hear in my head "what's in the box"
Inception
I love this film and since watching at the cinema, reading the forum posts and re-watching at least a dozen times within the first few months of the DVD release, it is now placed firmly within my top 5 movies of all time (also the newest of that listing too).
I do love the concept, the CGI and the fact that when it ends..... was it real? What happens to the top? Will it fall over!?
I love a film that leaves me with questions, it frustrates me and entertains me at the same time, and no matter how many times I watch this film, there is always a moment I've missed before.

True Romance
For my friends and family reading my blog it will come as no surprise this is on my list - I had/have a massive crush on Christan Slater and have seen all his movies, I love his voice, simple as that.
And as much as I hide it, I am a romantic at heart, and this film is one of those where true love prevails. Clarence a loner with a love for movies.... falls in love and marries a troubled call girl Alabama and we follow the true romance of this couple as they overcome beatings, drug dealers and a gunfight.
I often find myself unsure of what to watch, if it's not Marvel/DC, Disney/Pixar or Dreamworks related I get a bit lost, as this means the film buff in me has come out to play and not the geeky crafter or mummy.....
I can not believe for the second time this week we have lost a legend! I heard we lost Alan Rickman, also suffering from Cancer on the way back to work from my lunch break and I felt numb.
