When Spray Painting goes wrong there's always #Marvel Wallpaper

I do love it when the family gets involved with my up-cycled / revamped furniture pieces.  So whilst I was out in the garden one summer morning digging out the weeds I was thrilled to see my two boys coming back from the car boot with a stool - the same shape and design as my Toy Story and Star Wars upcycled stools at that!!

The stool itself was in good condition, a few chips around the edges which could easily be fixed, so in hindsight, I could have just changed the seat... but that would have been way too easy!!  I did do the seat first this time around though.  I love my staple gun and with each piece I do I'm slowly getting better at covering.

And then it all went wrong!

I mentioned on my toy box post that the spray cans I recently used just didn't want to play!  They spat at me, clogged up and just made it difficult to get a smooth finish on this stool!  So much so I shut it away in the shed for 6 months!!

Then one day, my fantastic partner says 'why don't you just use wallpaper'.   But of course!  Sounds so obvious now, doesn't it.  And with that, I took the stool out the shed and nipped up B&Q and bought some Marvel wallpaper.

I used my ever faithful bucket load of Modge Podge to cover the sides of the stool with my fantastic Marvel wallpaper, and you know what, I think I did a pretty good job of it considering it's only my second piece using wallpaper! - My first attempt was on the wardrobe and drawers.

With the sides re-covered I could finally put my seat back on and now our newly decorated stool lives in 'Spider-man room' also known as Max's bedroom.

What do you think?  I do rather love it.
