How I almost failed at creating a Lego Pac Man Ghost

I received a mini Pac Man ghost in one of my subscription boxes a while ago and I thought it would be great to use the instructions from the box to create a Lego size ghost

Yeah, this is very nearly an epic fail post!

I somehow have never mastered the art of building anything successfully with Lego and I have been known to ask for the assistance of my 3-year-old son.... not my proudest moment I know!  So that being said a fiddly farty Pac-Man ghost was destined to fail.......almost!

I shopped around and between our boxes, the Lego store and eBay I bought all the pieces, I needed as per the instructions.  I wanted a blue ghost but Oh My God I'm not allowed to use the blue pieces!!  This is my son's favourite colour and he just refused to give them to me.  Now I could just tell him I'm having them, but I figured I'd create a red one first then have a whole set of them in different colours plus Pac-Man himself..... yeah that's not happening!!

58 3x1 Lego pieces - should have been a clue as to how fiddly this was going to be!!
At this point I'm thinking - I'm going to be a while!
This was so so fiddly and I just could not get the 'head' on without the whole side of him collapsing!!  After around 30 minutes of fiddling, swearing and drifting off to watch TV, I asked for assistance from my partner and just like that, he was finished!

By the time he was finished my ghost was very elongated, so I took a random level out and placed him on 'my' shelf in the cabinet and you know what, I don't think he looks too bad but I'm sure not doing any more of them!

The one and only Ghost I'll be making - so he deserves pride of place on my shelf

Someone needs to tell him those are Lego heads not Pac Man's cousins....

Sometimes, my random ideas need to stay in my head!

  1. I love this! Random ideas should never stay in your head :)

I haven't used Lego in years. I downloaded Pac-Man Championship Edition when it was on offer though. Way too addictive.

    1. I'm not a huge Lego fan but the boys (big and small both love it)

  2. Well done you for even attempting. I leave the lego construction to my sons although I did enjoy as a kid myself. My only involvement these days is playing the lego games once the boys have assembled them
