I've mentioned before that I love to binge watch programs, the only problem is once I'm up to date with the current season I then watch as the show is aired and have to wait a week! I don't mind this so much if I have new shows to binge watch too.
So over the last couple of months, there are 4 shows that are new to me and 1 that looks like it's going to be fab!
I'll list them in order of seasons as a couple are established now and you may be wondering where I've been for the last 3 years.... (I have no idea myself by the way)!
The 100Now on season 3... where the hell have I been? LOVE this show! I was round my friend's house last month and it came on and she said 'Oh Rach, you should watch this, it's so you' I've known this girl for 30+ years, I trust her judgment of me, and SHE WAS SO RIGHT!!
Set 97 years after a nuclear war has destroyed civilization when a spaceship housing humanity's lone survivors send 100 juvenile delinquents back to Earth in hopes of possibly re-populating the planet. - IMDB. You can read the synopsis here
StitchersI know, nothing odd, mystical, or space agey about this one - just a good program on how the members of the stitchers program catch killers... by stitching into their brain before it dies to see their final moments.
The program has the underlying story running through it as all good crime programs do and a "will they won't they" get together element - so ticks lots of boxes in my option.
This is only on season 2 so I don't feel so bad about just catching this one.
A young woman is recruited into a secret government agency to be "stitched" into the minds of the recently deceased, using their memories to investigate murders. - IMDB.
The MagiciansMy favourite of the shows on this page! Based on the book by Lev Grassman, this for me was like watching Hogwarts the University years. I love every.single.character and for me that's rare as there is always 'that one' isn't there? This has none of that. You're rooting for all of the magicians and I'm so shocked at how season 1 ended...... I bought the books!
This one is a must! Currently only 1 season, but I'll be surprised if there isn't a second.
After being recruited to a secretive academy, a group of students discovers that the magic they read about as children is very real and more dangerous than they ever imagined. - IMDB
11.22.63This one I've only just finished watching. It's a TV mini-series which is an adaptation of Stephen King's novel. I am a huge fan of King and much prefer any book than the movies they get turned into (with the exception of Stand By Me, that will forever live on a pedestal for me).... anyway, I loved this show. 8 episodes of watching Jake Epping trying to stop the assassination of JFK.
I recommend this program, it's not a horror in any way, but I was expecting that twist at the end or a dark ending, but we didn't get that, in fact, I was quite disappointed and could have had the ending about 30 minutes into the last episode - I'd probably be more happy with that. If I'd not know it was a King novel then maybe my opinion would have been different.
James Franco is brilliant in this!
High school teacher Jake Epping travels back in time to prevent the assassination of President John F. Kennedy - but his mission is threatened by Lee Harvey Oswald, falling in love, and the past itself, which doesn't want to be changed and shouldn't be changed. - IMDB
So what do I have lined up to watch for Summer 2016?Shadowhunters - I've just started with this and it's not grabbing me. I'm not leaving an episode wanting to watch more. I'm leaving it and thinking "that'll do for tonight". I don't think I'll get passed season 1 of this.
Preacher - oh now this looks good! This I can't wait to watch! We sat and watched the pilot on TV last week and then had to wait for what feels like a month before the next episode! It left us with a lot of questions - just what you want to get sucked into a program in my opinion.
So do check back at the end of summer to see what else I've binge watched, and please, do leave me recommendations, I give all shows a least a couple of episodes of viewing before making up my mind :-)
