Halloween Kids Craft with Bostik - #Wands

Oh, we had such fun with this!! (OK I did for sure, but glue, paint and sticks are involved so I'm pretty sure my boy did too!).

Autumn means collecting leaves, conkers and sticks - and we were on a mission on our last walk to collect 'wands' and I must say, we came home with a pretty good haul.

Before I let my son have them to paint I sanded some down and/or stripped them so there were no sharp pieces to them.  I also took a few and covered them with glue from the hot glue gun - but PVA glue in a squeeze bottle will work just as well.

I found putting them in balls of playdoh made for great wand holders whilst waiting for the glue to dry (also works for waiting for the paint to dry at a later stage too).

Once the sticks were prepared we got the paint out.  I tried various options with the sticks.  I loved the coverage of the spray paint, the silver and gold paint covered the sticks very well, but my favourite was covering the wands in glitter glue!

Once the wands were dry we added decorations to them in various ways.

* We glued some jewellery wire at the top of the wands with a glue dot and threaded it with charms all the way down the wand - following the glue line down to the handle.

* We covered the wand with Modge Podge and sprinkled confetti pieces all down the wand.

* We glued sections of the wand and placed charms on it.

We put our wands back in our Playdoh holders and left them to dry overnight.

For the handles, we placed a Bostik glue dot at the top of the handle and stuck ribbon to it.  This takes very well, and we wound the ribbon down the wand and used another glue dot to hold in place.

There really is no limit as to what you can do with these wands from painting them to decorating them to adding a handle - we used ribbons, pipe cleaners and tape for ours.  But below are possibly my favourite ones we created that day and now sit pride of place in the hallway.

So what do you think? I know I won't be looking at sticks in the same way again.
