The week we lost Legends

The Day I heard Alan Rickman had died

I can not believe for the second time this week we have lost a legend!  I heard we lost Alan Rickman, also suffering from Cancer on the way back to work from my lunch break and I felt numb.

I'm crushed.

My love for Alan Rickman has grown ever since watching him as the Sheriff of Nottingham in Robin Hood Prince of Thieves.  I had once heard that his famous line to 'Call off Christmas' was an ad lib due to forgetting his line and they kept it in.  I have no idea if this is true or not, I like to think it is so I have never researched it further.

Of course, I'd seen Die Hard and it's a Christmas favourite but this is not where my love for Alan grew, this is just a film he was in for me, so after Prince of Thieves came 2 of my all time favourite movies that he stars in - Dogma and Love Actually.  I adore him as the Metatron and is quite possibly my favourite character in the whole film, so by the time he appears as Snape in the Harry Potter films he is well and truly placed firmly in my heart.

To hear of his death today and to see the following image circulate round the whole of social media made me for the second time this week shed a tear for a great British Legend.
