Have you watched The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel?

I often surf my Amazon Prime to see what programs pop up on my recommendations, it's a bit hard to filter through though as my 6-year-old also watches The Pink Panther, Trek's Adventures.... you get the idea.

So when this popped up, I thought I'd give it a try:
It did not disappoint, and I ended up binge watching 3 episodes in the first sitting.

I can't really put my finger on what I found so amusing and amazing about this program.  It's set in the 1950s, an era I love to watch so that would have been what drew me in.

It's a story of a housewife who loves her husband to bits, gets up before he wakes to put her make up so he sees her at her best, packs him off to work, looks after the children, takes care of his needs and supports him through his failing stand up comedy hobby.

Only it's not a hobby to her husband.  He actually wants to quit his well paid, high powered job and become a stand-up comedian, but he's just not got it.  But his wife has!

I think what I love about this series is not only Midge's quick wit, but her sidekick and manager Susie is hilarious!  Dressed unconventional for the decade and often mistaken for a guy, she smokes, drinks and tells it as it is... and quite possibly my favourite character in the whole show!

The show sees how Midge's husband, after realising he's not the comic he thinks he is, leave Midge for his secretary and this is where she blossoms, where she becomes her own woman and uses her life experiences to become the Marvelous Mrs Maisel.

I've heard rumours of a second season, but I'm not quite sure if that will work.  Sometimes I'm just happy with a very well thought out, well ended 1 off program.

Have you seen this program yet?
