So this is how I got my free purple hair....

fun in the sand... pit

Last Saturday as we walked passed the Early Learning Centre in town we saw they were selling coloured sand!  How cool is that!

We went inside and Max played on the mini bouncy castle whilst mummy had a HUGE decision to make.... what coloured sand did  Max want for his little turtle sandpit back home.

I went for purple.

Thank goodness for pushchairs!

Max loves being outdoors and loves his sandpit.  Just need to try and get him to keep the sand in the turtle and not ..... all over me!

I had purple roots for days!

Channel 4 Comedy Gala

Channel 4 Comedy Gala

For the last couple of years, we've enjoyed watching Channel 4's Comedy Gala and this year I decided I was going to spend my very hard earned cash on actually being at the show.

I told my partner that we had 'good seats' but that's all I did tell him and it was well worth the secret as his face was a picture when he saw we were 11 rows from the stage!!
Channel 4 Comedy Gala

The tickets were not cheap but not overly expensive either and all proceeds to the Comedy Gala go to Great Ormond Street Hospital so that makes my tickets even more worthwhile now, especially as very dear friends of ours are waiting on a bed at GOSH for their baby boy as I type this.

I won't spoil it for anyone who will be watching the show on 7th June with regard to the comedians...... but the first act of the night was.... DIVERSITY!!! I love them!  I've loved them since Britain's Got Talent - and obviously, the rest of the country love them too otherwise they'd not beaten Susan Boyle.  Anyway, they get a few extra members - well worth a giggle in itself.

We also have the big guns such as Lee Evans, Jack Dee, Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand.  In fact there is a LOT of big names at the comedy gala and too many for me to list so I will just leave you with some cryptic messages:  I nearly cried at Kevin Bridges "Ghosties" and I love Josh Widdicombe all because of the "Tea" sketch.

If you ever get the opportunity to go to the Comedy Gala, you won't be disappointed - where else would you see soo many great comedians in one place.

* At 8 weeks old Mally fell in the pond (I think Athena pushed him in)

* 2 weeks later Athena fell in!

* They slept in the kitchen and Athena turned into Houdini

* The first time I found out she could escape was at Christmas - when she ate the Christmas decorations.... and half the tree!

* Athena pooped tinsel for days

* They liked the taste of Plasterboard!  Mally still does!!

* They liked the taste of Mattresses

* They liked the taste of trainers and Lino

* Athena is a keen gardener

* Pizzle sticks are the stinkiest treat ever and the dogs can smell them a mile off

* I didn't know Pizzle was an English word for Penis - I should of, as that's what they are!!

* I'm now wondering if I can get away with calling anyone at work at Pizzle!

Our first train ride

Last weekend, quite possibly the hottest day of the year so far, we decided to take Max on a train for the first time.

We went to Brighton..... along with everyone else on the south coast!  The train on the way to Brighton was more packed then the Tubes.  We didn't get to sit down and daddy had hold of Max in his arms the whole journey there.

On our walk down from the station Max had fallen asleep so we made the most of this and had a good look around the Disney store whilst he slept - cruel parents I know - but we did buy him Simba and it was totally worth seeing his face when he woke up to Simba - priceless.

We went to see 'Walking with Dinosaurs' in Churchill Square as seen on their facebook page "Our 'Walking with Dinosaurs!' themed Snapper Jaxx event takes place this Sunday and is guaranteed fun for the young ones!"   This was one rather plump woman dressed in I don't know what outfit (looked more like a crocodile than a dinosaur) walking around and another woman dressed in some Safari outfit handing out colouring in pictures to kids!  The most outrageous claim to 'Walking with Dinosaurs' ever!  In fact, daddy went over to the Safari woman and asked her where the 'Walking with Dinosaurs' were and she did indeed point to the plump woman and say 'there' !!

Once back at the station we see cancellations due to crew shortages and had the daunting thought of being at the station an hour before the next train was due.  Fortunately, though, an extra train had been laid on to get us home and we managed to get Max a seat for the journey home.

Sitting with daddy, he loved it, jiggled away as the train moved and watched everything around him.  Made the day very worthwhile.

Next time we might just go to Worthing ;)

Oh How You’ve Changed at 30

BritMums are running a competition to win an iPad mini.  The aim is to review the revamped Special K which has changed its recipe since 1983 and also to post what has changed about me.......

First up the Special K.  Yes the Kelloggs Special K which is always advertised by a woman in a slim fitting dress that turns into a K..... my mum lived on this stuff and I remember it not being anything to write home about.. or even blog about!

Until now!

It's been revamped and it is nice!  No seriously, I have not turned into my mum!  It has a new recipe it now contains 3 grains, not two - rice, wheat and barley and I surprised myself with actually liking this.  I've only skipped breakfast 2 days since receiving my packet and that's because I was ill and lost my appetite.

How have I changed?

Well for a start 30 years ago I was a pre-teen and now I have a toddler.

Mum moved me that year.  I left my friends behind in the 3rd year of middle school to go start a new school up in New Malden - senior school no less!!  I didn't know anyone at the beginning of term but it doesn't take long for kids to make friends and before long I had 2 very good friends.

This is one of my all time favourite pictures.  I don't have many of my time up in Surrey (it was only two years after all!)  This is me and my friend at break time just hanging out looking very dated :)

I remember buying...... Now that's what I call music.  That's it people - no number after it!!  The first LP of the nows!  LP!  and I think I still have it in the loft, but I asked my partner to get the photo albums out the other day and I think I've used my 'loft allowance' up for the month, otherwise I'd take a piccie of that too.

I bought the most useless bag on the planet in the name of fashion and Maria's dog ate it!!

I swapped my extra large poster of Duran Duran for Michael Jackson and he was black!

I was in love with John Moss, Adam Ant and Simon Le Bon, I even went and watched View to a Kill all because Duran Duran did the soundtrack - Grace Jones scared the pants off me!!

BUT some things don't change.  I remember sneaking out in our lunch break (we weren't allowed off the grounds) to get Barbara Windsor's autograph... now is it me or has she not changed since this news clipping?

A couple of years later and I'm back home with some old and new friends.  I love these guy (I'm sure they'll all hate me now I've just posted a 25-year-old picture up of them ).

Days Out: Visiting Pooh House and Gardens

Last week, my good friend Craig told me about Pooh House & Gardens. Which, from their website is described as "Magical One Acre Wonderland of Pooh House and Gardens". In Fittleworth, West Sussex.

The owners had opened up their gardens for all to visit with proceeds going to the Chestnut Tree House. A cause very dear to Craig's heart - please, if you have a spare moment read his story. The owners had opened up their gardens for all to visit with proceeds going to the Chestnut Tree House.  A cause very dear to Craig's heart - please, if you have a spare moment read his story.

Daddy had to fix his car on Sunday so it was just Max and me taking a trip to visit Pooh and we were not disappointed.

Max played with the gravel path, picked up ornaments and collected leaves whilst I was in awe of a truly magical little place, right here in the heart of Sussex.

We saw Piglet, Pooh and Tigger but no photos of them I'm afraid as Max cottoned on that every time I got the camera out...he did a runner in the other direction!

I only have a few pictures but to visit Pooh Gardens for £6.50 for a family of four to experience what reminded me of the garden in The Secret Garden - very magical lovely place, its local, its a day out and proceeds for charity - is a winner in my books.
