5 Fandom Friday: My Comfort Films

I do love reading the Fandom Friday posts over at Female Geek Bloggers network, and this week the theme is Comfort Films.  FAB!

For me, my 5 Comfort Films are also my top 5 films and whilst I love Peter Parker, Bumblebee and Potter, not one of these make my top 5 - in fact, my list is rather 'normal'!!

So in reverse order and in at number 5 is Love Actually!

Yes, a romcom no less - and I'm not ashamed.  My favourite character in the film is Billy Mack played by Bill Nighy and it's just a feel-good film, with snippets of so many lives where you're rooting for couples to get together, stay together and find each other.  Bring on the tissues.. or at least a big awww sigh and chocolates.

Next up is Ponyboy and Jonny and the rest of the Greasers in The Outsiders.

Oh, my days!  This film was the first film ever to make me cry!  I remember watching this film at home with my bestie, and the pair of us were blubbing like a couple of kids by the end of it, rather shocking ourselves!  I love it, so much so I nearly peed my pants when I found out that C.Thomas Howell and Ralph Macchio were at the winter Comicon in London last year!

There's not much in the next two but at number three is Dogma!

I originally thought it was because I may have a little thing for Matt Damon as to the reason why this is number 3 but, to be honest, I love him in all his films and quite possibly Good Will Hunting is my favourite of his, so I think he just helps.  I love the comedy of this film and basically, it has a great cast to it.  This for sure is one of my go-to films if I want to cheer up!

My penultimate comfort film - Stardust!

Love this film, love the storyline, love a bit of fantasy and who doesn't love Robert De Niro dancing around in a dress?  This is the film I get lost in, willing the boy who works in a shop to see what's in front of him and how much his star loves him....... ahhhhhhh, beginning to realise I may be a bit of a softie!

My number one film - Stand By Me. (anyone who knows me will not be shocked by this).

I watched this film with my friends, my good friends a lifetime ago.  It reminds me of being young, it reminds me of the adventures we would get up to and that you never really have friends like you do when you're twelve..... , that and at the end of the film when Chris Chambers fades out of Gordie's life, I always choke a little as I really was a die-hard River Phoenix :-(  It will forever be my number film.

So what is your number 1 comfort film?
