Monster Island Movie out on DVD 16th October

My son is not one for sitting and watching a whole movie just on a whim.  He does have a few movies that he'll sit through such as Toy Story, Despicable Me and most recently the Star Wars movies but normally he'll watch around 20 minutes and then start with his Lego, or cars etc.

Monster Island - great halloween movie for kids

We have been given the opportunity to review the new film Monster Island by Kaleidoscope Home Entertainment rated PG, and after watching the trailer and reading the synopsis I figured this was going to go one of two ways.....

Well, we all loved it!  My son sat and watched the entire film, and then asked for it again the next day.  We've watched it daily since, for those who don't know my son is nearly 6 and I feel this is aimed perfectly at him.

Synopsis for Monster Island

When young Lucas finds out he’s not really a human; the news changes his whole world. Especially since his first monster transformation happened in front of the most popular kids at school!  After unreasonably blaming his dad for keeping his identity a secret, the angry and embarrassed Lucas runs away from home.

His search for Monster Island and his real roots takes him on a fabulously scary journey that puts him face-to-face with more tentacles, fangs and far-out situations than he can shake one of his new wings at. Ultimately Lucas learns that being a freak, isn’t freaky - it means you’re a member of a brand new type of family, you can proudly call your own.

The beginning of the film is a lot like the 80s Team Wolf film.  Yes, there was a film before the TV series for those too young to remember......

The story then follows Lucas back to his family roots and to the bad guy in the film, *Spoiler Alert* his mad uncle who is bitter that he never turned into a monster!

Great family film and one to watch out for from 16th October - a perfect movie for Halloween's spooky not scary film night.
